Church Beautification

By Paula & Bates

The gardens of Christ Church are growing and blooming. In fact the gardens are under transformation, due to the work of the Garden Committee and the help of our Boy Scout Troop. The goal is for our gardens to reflect and promote the beauty of our congregation and church to the outside world. We hope people passing by Christ Church will be so attracted to the serene beauty of our lovely historical church it surrounding grounds that they visit and join. The idea is to cultivate our gardens to achieve year-round change with colorful berries or blooms that highlight the existing evergreen. Several parishioners given donations to allow the Gardern Committee to purchase plants to begin this endeavor. It will take years of dedicated work, but we hope to cultivate gardens of year-round, elegant change.

Brunch

By B Green

On Sunday August 5th we had our first Monthly Brunch, replacing what Father Larry called Chat and Chew. also known as Sunday Soup and Salad.  Alice had the idea that a Brunch between the 8 and 10 O'clock services might bring the two congregations together. It was well attended and no one went away hungry.  In addition to good food, we took the opportunity to have an informal Parish meeting where we made plans for the Christian Education program for the upcoming year.

Office Deck

By B Green

On Thursday July 27, three volunteers started the repairs of the Deck behind the Church Office. Nelson Simpson and Gary Steffen did most of the skilled labor and planning while I kept busy as gofer and photographer. The work was limited to the morning hours because of prior commitments. Work continued the following Thursday, with only Gary Steffen showing up. The work was cut short because of the heat. The Church owes Gary Steffen a vote of thanks. He not only furnished much of the labor and tools, but also paid for the lumber used. On Thursday 16 August 2007 the resurfacing of the Deck was finished and the first coat of varnish was put down. The vestry has approved the purchase of materials for replacing the railing around the deck and has requested an estimate for replacing the current steps, including a hand rail for the steps.  .
